The dep^t of War Accountants Office S^o June 27, 1799 An account has been anserve to this Office by Mr. Bilhan & Hall for monies claimed by him for his pay &c claims as Secretary to the Commissioners appointed to hold a treaty with the Charka nation of Indians, during the Year 1793 — From this account I have made the enclosed abstract as calculated by himself attended by an explanatory letter on this Subject, previous however to any examination or decision thereon It will be necessary to be informed by the Secretary of War as to the following points — at what Compensation he has been employed when it is to commence & when to Terminate. he has calculated his pay from the day of his appointment by the Commissioners until the day of his departure from Tennesee to return home; at 4 dollars p day, from the day of his departure from Tennesee to his arrival at Philadelphia at 40 miles p day at the same pay as claimed during his actual presence at the holding of the Treaty — What compensation is to be allowed him during the period on which Stores were not provided for the Commissioners under the charge of the United States — he has demanded three dollars pr day. What compensation is to be allowed him in lieu of his travelling expences during the periods in which he was employed in carrying public dispatches relative to the Treaty — he has charged Six Dollars for every 40 miles —
