Accountants Office June 26. 1799 Sir Dear Sir I wrote you on the 22 Inst. your accounts & Vouchers have been examined & have been found right, you are to continue with the account thereof being $775.33, including [undecipherable] part & lots, which are not [undecipherable] on the books of this Office leaving [undecipherable] in your hands on the last of May 1799 of Dollars 222.28 [undecipherable] — It is necessary to acquaint you that when payment is made to a person who cannot write his name, his mark must be attested by some respectable witness; this formality is wanting in several of the vouchers already received & [undecipherable] they have in this instance been admitted, the necessary vouchers will be required in future — An Abstract of the Articles purchased by you have been and will continue to be transmitted from time to time, to Samuel Hodgson Superintendent of Military Stores, in order that you may be held accountable for the [undecipherable] disposition thereof on the Books of this Office — I am &c W.S.
