Accountants Office Gilmor Wilmington June 21. 1779 Sir, I received your letter of the 5 Inst inclosing vouchers rec^t. for 2000 Dollars, in account of Subsistance of the army which has been entred accordingly on the Books of this Office. Your accounts of Expenditures made whilst Adjutant and the service of the United States including your pay as such has been settled at this Office; also your expenditure as Collector for the Military Department at Fort Johnston & Wilmington — a copy of wich you have herewith enclosed for your government by which you will perceive that 8 dollars has been credited from your pay as Captain you having charged for 8 days after resignation at D^o 106^ths. in from your charge for subsisting the troops & military stores at Wilmington & Fort Johnston. you having demanded 18 Dollars p Month whereas the Banning of May allows you but 300 Dollars p annum, as all your other charges have been admitted, there remains a balance to your favour of Dolls 377. 11/100 on the Books of this Office which sum will be remitted to you by the Treasurer of the U. S. for which you will forward to this Office your receipt shewing that in this balance, the sum paid to you of 2000 Dollars on account of the Subsistance of the Army, & 180 Dollars on account of Contingencies at Fort Johnston are not included, &c I am &c W.S.
