I have drawn on you this day in favor of Samuel C Hale or [strikethrough: order] for Five thousand five hundred Dollars, payable to him or order after ten days Sight, which Sum is to be appropriated for the payment of the army under Colonel Butlen, for the months of January, February and March.
Water in Specie has been lodged at So. McPoint in the hands of Lieut Chandler as Pay Master — for the above Sum. which Saves the transportation and trouble, in Carrying it there, And having passed the Same to the Credit of the Treasurer — request this [strikethrough: from] Draft may meet your approbation.
