[242] Artillery, June 19^th June 1799 Sir I have received from on board the Sloop Patience Capt. Rogers from New York — Fifteen Trunks, and twenty Boxes, containing Saddlery, said to be one hundred and eighty nine Setts with Caps complete in good order, also from Colo C. Storrs New York the Chest of German manufactured arms, I have had Six of them taken to pieces and the Barrels proved with ¹⁵/₁₆^th of a pound of powder & lead, they stood the proof, and appear sound — The Workmanship on the Muskets is bad — The Bayo= nets and part of the Ramrods are Iron, the Locks are of an inferior quality, and they are badly stocked.
