I have received your letter of the 18th Instt
with your accounts & vouchers for April & May 1799 returns
they will be placed under examination immediately and you
will in course be informed of the result, In the mean time
your [undecipherable] I am led to remark that the
forms furnished to you this Office was not intended
to insinuate, that the vouchers for each sub Account thereto
should be numbered or revised, but on the contrary were
[undecipherable] to show, that all the vouchers should in the first
instance be numbered in proportion according to the dates
of payment, and the number thus attached to them extended
into the sub Account Abstract — had this been rightly understood
on your part several [strikethrough: several] vouchers of the same number
would not appear in one sett of accounts — you will please
attend to this in future & your sett of accounts as respects the
form of making them will be perfectly satisfactory.
Yours
