[Capt John Bishop / Winchester V^a] Commissarys Office June 15. 1799 Sir I have received your letter under the 9^th inst^t with its enclosures — the receipt[s] [undecipherable] my of yesterday transmitted to the 31 march 1799 [undecipherable] his continuance. the amount therein shown receipted, being [undecipherable] thousand one hundred & forty Dollars & [undecipherable] will accordingly be placed to the credit of your account on the books of this Office — In examination of your [undecipherable: Preceeding] account, I find that you have paid several of your Recruits [the] [undecipherable] Bounty of Twelve Dollars whereas the law expressly mentions that the payment of 6 dollars thereof, shall be deferred until they have joined the Army, agreeable to which, you have received a credit only of 6 dollars on account of Bounty to each of the aforesaid Recruits, previous to [undecipherable] the claim of John [undecipherable] [undecipherable] is to be engaged by direction of the Secretary [undecipherable] it is necessary that the [undecipherable: inlistment] [undecipherable] be transmitted to this Office — it is proper also that you state [undecipherable] account of your advances, [undecipherable] mentioning the purpose for which the rations you now [undecipherable] — your [undecipherable] [undecipherable] that you have not [undecipherable] any rations nor more in lieu thereof for the service thereof charged — [undecipherable] to the above corrections, your account has been stated [undecipherable] this [undecipherable] copy for your [undecipherable] by which there appears a balance in your favor of Dollars [undecipherable] which remains subject to your order — I have also received your Muster & Pay List for the months of April & May 1799, amounting [undecipherable] [undecipherable] [undecipherable]
