[Address panel: Samuel Hodgdon Esq^r / f / Superintendent of Stores / Philadelphia] [Endorsement: [undecipherable] Williams 1799 / The 19 / [undecipherable] [undecipherable] / marks —] Armory Department Springfield June 14. 1799 Sir From the pressing call of the Superintendant of the Armory, for an immediate supply of Musket Stocks, I am under the necessity of troubling you again on this subject — from his representations, I am apprehensive many of the Workmen will stand idle, mearly from the want of that article if they are not forwarded on without loss of time. — I am sorry to observe that many of the Musket Stocks in their rough state have the appearance of Soundness, but in working them down, are found shakey & unfit for the Musket — the utmost care & attention ought to be observed by the person whoome you employ to select them — Those rendered useless for the Musket, shall be carefully secured for other purposes, agreable to your advice in your letter last received —.
