[William Simmons's account — enclosing Abstract of Colonel Stevens's Account the 7^th June 99 —] Department of War Accountants Office June the 7^th 1799 Sir Under date of the 13^th Ultimo — You will receive inclosed an Abstract, of Articles purchased by Ebenezer Stevens Esq^r. Agent for this Department in New York in the Months of January & February 1799, for the amount of which he will receive a Credit on the Books of this Office. The Vouchers for the articles purchased as abovementioned being signed either by the Superintendent, Quartermaster, Surgeons Mate or Master Workmen as evidence of the delivery on Governors Island, (except such as are noted on the said abstract to be without this evidence) you will judge how far the said Ebenezer Stevens is to be held accountable on the Books of the Superintendent of Military Stores.
