The Secretary of the Treasury has order'd the muskets making in the State of Vermont under his contract to be deposited in the public Store under your direction in Albany. All that are presented to you you will accordingly receive and dispose of in such secure and dry places as will ensure their being safely kept and free from injury of every kind. — They will be inspected by such person as the Secretary may appoint previous to their removal from the places of fabrication, this therefore you have nothing to do with. — When received you will give the proper receipts, and send me an account of them and the apparent State in which they got to hand — I am, Sir, your most Obedient Servant. Houdin, Albany — Philadelphia 6 June, 1799. — Sir, For the better securing the Arms, Musick &c appertaining to the Army, I think it will be proper to procure immediately a number of Bell Tents. The number I propose is one hundred and [undecipherable], which I think will be sufficient to accomodate the whole Army, as they will probably be dispersed. If you approve the measure, you will be pleased to give the order for procuring them.
