Philadelphia, 5 June, 1799.
Sir,
The Ship Carpenters have arrived, and have presented your drafts, which were duly honored — The amount stopped from several of them was for more than had been paid on their orders, This will be set right, and the sums [undecipherable] to your debit —
I enclose the dimensions of the Spars and Masts of the Brig building with you by which the sails are made — By the Carpenters account, the Masts and Spars are all made — but whether to these dimensions or not they cannot tell. Under any circumstances I have supposed it may be useful, and therefore enclose it. —
Present my respects to Doctor Brown if present —
I am, Sir,
your most obedient Servant —

D Sir,
In answer to your note, I observe that I presume the Stores in Albany are in perfect order to receive such Muskets as may be ordered there for deposite — The Store Keeper Captn Michael Gt Hovsein is a very careful man, his attention to the business committed to him may be depended on — I shall write him in the subject immediately — It is understood that the Muskets will be inspected before they are offered to him, as he has no knowledge of business of that kind —
I am very sincerely,
yours
Saml Hodgdon —
