Philadelphia, June 3. 1799.
Sir,
Mr Morrow having forwarded an account for advances made by him for Stores delivered during your absence, I have paid the amount and placed it to your Debits as I have taken the receipts in your name — you will bring it forward with any other claims you may have on the final adjustment of the business your post. The Vouchers are informal as this is no acknowledgement of the receipts of the articles said to have been sent from Shippackertown to Staunton, for over — this you will please to obtain and annex to your account in which this transaction may appear. Enclosed you have one of the receipts taken to support the charge in your account — the other remains with me to Substantiate the charge against you —
I am Sir,
Major Elias Langham — your most obedient Servant,
Saml Hodgdon —

This morning I received your favor of the 3d instant. The only employ I can recommend is, to join yourself to the public Armoury at Springfield — your Services will be greatly useful and the pay will be liberal. — If you make application there you may produce this line as an introduction —
I am,
Mr J. Stanley — Sir,
