my dear Sir.
Lt. Col. Tayler in a letter to
General Hamilton dated the 27 inst. has
recommended John Brown for Capt., and
Austin Ledyard & Nath. Noyes for Lieutnts.
These names have been forwarded to
the President for his sanction. He has
also recommended Nathl. Ruggles of
Brookfield, vice Freeman Mosely pay-ma[undecipherable]
& John Bens of Danby, who served as a
sergeant in the late American army
[undecipherable] for the appointment of Lieut. in the place
[undecipherable] Waters-Clarke [undecipherable] ant.; and John
Spalding junr. of New Haven for the
appointment of Surgeons mate. Do
you concur? And will you advis[e]
with Col. Tayler and fix upon a
qualified person for Surgeon and a-
nother mate.
