Accountants Office May 24^th 1789 Cap^t George Ingersole Comm^g at West Point Sir Mr William Golfin has presented at this Office for settlement his accounts of Supplies from 1 Jan^y 1789 to the Garrison under your command — among which are several Abstracts of some months delivery of Rations by you neglect to be received — that appear extremely erroniously done — to ascertain how far the error extend it is absolutely necifsary to have the original orders upon which the ifues were made & which you have acknowledged to be in your pofsefion they being the only proper documents to prove the Ifues, you will therefore please to have no hand in transmitting them to this Office — The contractor has also exhibited a charge of D^rs 28⁷⁰ for a Barge for the use of the Garrison at West Point, no entry has been made at this Office to know by what authority this barge was built, you are made to furnish the amount will therefore be admitted from the contractors accounts, may you show by what authority you ordered the building of the same? — Sam^l W^m Simmons Clk^t Elenezer Stevens Es^q Agent for the Dep^t Office New York Sir May 27^th 1789 Your favor of the 4th Inst^t is before me, and having noted the points wanting to your accounts from the Secretary of War, the examination will now go on — Sam^l W^m Simmons Clk^t
