Acct^s George Ingersole Comm^y of M. West Point Sir Accountants Office May 28^th 1789 Mr William Olphin has presented at this Office for settlement his accounts of Supplies from 1 Jan^y 1789 to the Garrison under your command — among which are several abstracts of some months delivery of rations by you receipted to be received, that appear extremely erroneously drawn. To ascertain how far the error extend it is absolutely necessary to have the original orders upon which the issues were made & which you have acknowledge to be in your possession, they being the only proper documents to prove the Issues, you will therefore please to lose no time in transmitting them to this Office — The contractor has also exhibited a charge of D^o 28 [undecipherable] for a Barge for the use of the Garrison at West Point as no has been made at the War Office to know by what authority the Barge was built you are want to know, the amount will therefore be deducted from the contractors account until you shew by what authority you ordered the building of the same — Sam^l H^m W.
