The Commanding Officers at [undecipherable] Stations in the Harbor of [undecipherable] in the years 1797 [undecipherable] have drawn double rations under the 4th Section of the act of the 3d March 1797 entitled an act to amend & repeal in part the act entitled "an act to ascertain & fix the military establishment of the United States" which says and for each officer who commands a separate post there shall be allowed twice the number of Rations to which they would otherwise be entitled.
I request to be informed whether the abovementioned Stations for [undecipherable] alluded to were considered as separate Posts & the commanding officers thereby entitled to receive double Rations —
