Philadelphia, 22^d May, 1799 — Sir, you will be pleased to deliver the public Clothing, viz Shirts, Breeches, and Shoes left at Windsor in the State of Vermont by Lt Bamiſas, and which you have kindly taken care of, to the Officer now there, or such one as may arrive there for the purpose of recruiting for the Twelve Regiments now raising — On making the delivery you will please to take two receipts; one of which is to be sent to me, the other to the pay master of the Regiment, whose duty it is to adjust the clothing as well as pay accounts of the Regiment — your most obedient Servant Samuel Hodgdon — M^r William Lovett — Philadelphia, 22^d May, 1799 — Sir, By a letter received from Col Williams, dated the 27^th ulto I am informed that the amount of the five [strikethrough: some] Bills drawn by [strikethrough: your] subsqueans from the 1^st July 1796, the time of the resignation of Col. O'Hara; amounting to 2070 Dollars, which Bills were paid by me, and charged to him, have not been accounted for by you with him, and therefore are not to stand to his debit — This being the case, I must request you to send me a Certificate that they have been accounted for with Col. O'Hara; on receipt of which the matter may be set right — If not accounted for with him, be pleased to inform me to whom you have made your self Debtor, and the time and way you have acted to adjust the business — The Bills were all drawn between the 1^st July and 30^th October, 1796. — I now thank you to let me hear from you on the subject by the first conveyance — your &c, Samuel Hodgdon — M^r David Naragan — Cincinnati
