Sir, You will receive herewith enclosed Abstracts muster and pay rolls for a detachment of Militia commanded by Lieut. Wilkins at Fort Twiggs — It appears by a certificate from Lieutenant [undecipherable] Bobb of the Artillery herewith enclosed that the above detachment was a part of the numerous Infantry authorized by the President of the United States and accordingly ordered into [service] by the Governor of Georgia and that Lieutenant Bobb was ordered by Col. Gaither to muster them agreeably to the instructions he should receive from Major Furman and that the detachment was inspected but not mustered but not mustered in consequence of their having not expired by a few days — I will be much obliged to you to inform me whether and when these rolls will be paid, also request you will be pleased to send a duplicate of your answer under cover to Lieut. Bobb at this post, that I may have it by me before it arrives, for his [undecipherable] — I have the honor to be with much respect Sir, Your Most Ob^t Servant Hugh S. McCall, Lt. Pay Master May 22^nd Mr. Wright the United States Factor for the Indian Trade arrived here yesterday from Knoxville — [The Hon'ble The Accountant Dep't of War.] I do certify that I received orders from Col. Gaither to muster and inspect the Militia agreeably to the instructions of Major [undecipherable] Furman — his instructions dated February 1^st 1795. mentioned Fort Twiggs as one of the Posts where the Militia were posted pursuant to the Authority of the President of the United States — When I visited Fort Twiggs the detachment commanded by Mr. Wilkins had not been at the Post the length of time for which muster [strikethrough: had been made] — I therefore Inspected, but did not muster Them — Fort Wilkinson, May 20^th 1799.
