Hamilton the muster Rolls of the Troops at Fort Niagara for the month of March 1799 Sam G. H Simmons Acct D. Mr. Price & Sprigg Mar 16 1799 Dear Front Sir I have received your letter dated 1^st Inst enclosing your account for pay for the months of March & April 1799 the amount thereof being sixty dollars has been paid agreeably to your order former William [undecipherable] Monday Sam G. May 27 1799 Sir The Commanding Officers at [undecipherable: Ellicottstown?] Stations in the Harbor of Pittsburgh in the years 1797 & 1799 have drawn double rations under the 4^th Section of the Act of the 3^d March 1797 entitled an Act to amend & repeal, in part the act entitled "an act to ascertain & fix the military Establishment of the United States" which says and for each officer who commands a separate post there shall be allowed twice the number of Rations to which they would otherwise be entitled I request to be informed whether the abovementioned Stations for the above description were considered as separate posts & the commanding Officers therein entitled to receive double Rations— M.
