Pittsburgh 10^th May 1794 Sir The Quarter Master General informs me, that as he has no Superintendance over the Ordnance and Hospital Departments — Accounts of Expenditures in either are not to be taken by him — consequently he has not admitted me to charge him with the Account of Pay of an Armourer very necessarily employed in cleaning and repairing the Arms in my Charge at this Post — nor will he admit of an Account of Medicines furnished by Doctor Hugh Scott for the Garrison of Fort Fayette by order of Capt Turner — I have therefore Sir to request you to inform me in what manner I am to obtain Credit for these accounts &for similar Expenditures — which no doubt must hereafter occur — I am Sir your very obedient [undecipherable] Hon^ble James McHenry Secretary of War
