[443] Philadelphia 1^st May 1799 Sir, By direction of Colonel Hodgdon, I enclose you a return of Clothing in the Public Store at Philadelphia, this day. I have the honor to be &c [Major General A. Hamilton.] Timothy Bangs Philadelphia, May 3^d 1799 Sir. Your letter of the 26^th ultimo has just come to hand. With respect to the Medicine and Hospital Stores marked Fort Massac and West Florida; the Secretary of War has been consulted. He observes that you had better send the whole to Fort Massac, with a letter to the Commanding Officer there, requesting him to take them under his charge, until he receives directions from General Wilkinson, what portion of them, and to what Posts, they are ultimately destined. You will also write to the Officer commanding at the Mississippi, that the medicines for that quarter; & also agreeably to orders from General Wilkinson are at Massac, waiting the orders, and distribution of the General. A Trunk was lately forwarded, addressed to Jonathan Schefflin, Detroit, you will be pleased to send it on, by the first conveyance. Col.
