America in the sum of Three thousand Dollars, to
which payment well and truly to be made, We bind
ourselves, our heirs, Executors & Administrators jointly and
severally firmly by these Presents. Sealed with our Seals
and dated this twenty fourth day of April One thousand
seven hundred and ninety nine &
Whereas the above mentioned William Lane & William
Sattar have presented at the Department of War proposals for
supplying the United States with Iron Cannon upon the
terms & conditions and at the periods therein mentioned
And Whereas the United States have this day advanced
to the said Lane & Sattar One thousand Five hundred
Dollars, for the purpose of enabling them to carry the said
proposals into effect,
Now the Condition of this Obligation is such
that if the said William Lane & William Sattar shall
enter into a Contract with the United States within One
Month from the date hereof upon the principles stated
in the said proposals and shall deliver within Six Months
from the date of these presents as number of Cannon
equal to the value of the sum of Fifteen hundred Dol-
lars advanced as above mentioned, which cannon shall
be inspected & approved by persons appointed on the part of
the United States, then this obligation to be void, otherwise to
remain in full force & virtue &
