We inclose a bill of Lading of 17 Pieces of kentledge, Shipped on Board, Schooner Weymouth Captt Jackson; It would have been sent sooner, but since the River has opened we have requested two persons to carry it, but they had so much freight engaged they could not take it.

HIPPED in good order and well conditioned, by A. Mc Smith in and upon the good Schooner called the Weymouth whereof is Master Benoni Jackson for the present voyage now riding at anchor in the harbour of New York and bound for Phila.
To say,
Seventeen pieces of Kentledge
being marked and numbered as in the margin, and are to be delivered in the like good order and well conditioned at the aforesaid port of Phila (the danger of the seas only excepted) unto Saml. Hoagdon Esqn or to his assigns, he or they paying freight for the said Kentledge — Twenty Shillings Pr. Ton — with primage and average accustomed. In Witness whereof, the Master or Purser of the said Schooner hath affirmed to three bills of lading, all of this tenor and date; the one of which three bills being accomplished, the other s to stand void. Dated in New York the twenty Third day of April 1799
