Dear Sir — Your letter of the 12^th Inst. accompanied [with] Invoices of the Indian Annuities is this moment received which I shall pay due Attention — I find by the new Arrangement of the Quar= Master Department my duty is so much increased as to require the Assistance of another Clerk — I have therefore to beg of you to send for M^r Withroe and engage him for me — the compensation for his Service will be thirty dollars per month and two Rations Subsistence — And which he was very willing to accept when I saw him in the Cit[y] — Should he now agree to these terms I wish him [to] com[e] for= ward immediately and therefore I [beg] to requ[est] y[ou to] furnish him with Cash sufficient for travelling [expen=] [ses] — Via — the Stage to Shippensburg — where [undecipherable] Rippey will furnish him with an horse on my Accoun[t].
