Outlines Procedures to Charge Stores

Philadelphia, 19th April, 1799 Sir, I have received your note of this date. The Stores denominated Quarter Master’s which as heretofore embraced Medicines and Hospital Stores is only to pass through your Books. Cloathing and Military Stores are to be forwarded by you as has been usual. Invoices will be handed you of all articles delivered for this purpose; and you will be held accountable for their safe transport and delivery agreeably thereto. The Officers, and Posts to whom they are addressed will be charged with them by the Keeper as usual. I have money on hand to meet all my acceptances, shall not therefore need a further supply for some time to come. I do not think it will be best to draw until possitive calls request it. Drafts have always days sufficient allowed to make provision for their discharge. I am - &c Saml Hodgdon Mr. James Miller
