Deposeth That he was well acquainted with M^r Joseph Pindon in Montreal in Canada in the Spring of the Year 1775 and for many Years before preceding — That the said Joseph Pindon was, at the time the Province of Canada was invaded by the Americans, a Merchant in full [——] and of extensive Business in the town of Montreal — That he was then, and has for some [undecipherable] been in the habit of Importing and Exporting Largely, supplying the Country traders with Merchandize, and was settled in [undecipherable] good and easy circumstances From an Attachment to the American cause After the Troops arrived at S^t Johns he was abused, and [undecipherable] by [undecipherable] who were going to murder him, and was providentially delivered from Death — but was soon obliged to quit the Country and leave his House and all his Property — to which he has not since been able to return but has remained in America during the Contest — not being able to command his Property, was obliged to shift many ways to live — and at the end of the War being driven from the Country when he was settled at his Ease.
