[Deposition by Jos.^t Bindon in fav.^r of Edw.^d Chinn] Joseph Bindon of the City of New york Deposes that he was well acquainted with Edward Chinn in Montreal in and in the Spring of the Year 1775 and for many Years preceding. That the said Edward Chinn was at the time the Province of Canada was invaded by the Americans, largely concerned in a very profitable Trade with the Indians, from an Attachment to the Cause of America, and to avoid the Consequences that Intercourse was likely to Produce, he was obliged to Abandon his House Furniture and all his Concerns in the Indian Country. That he has Remained during the Contest in America, and suffered the same Inconvenience as the other Canadians have done by being driven from a Trade so profitable to labour for his Subsistence under every inconvenience Sworn at New York this 18^th Day of April 1799 Before Elh.
