Sir,
Captain Vance having sent an invitation, in the nature of a Challenge, to the Accountant for the Department of [undecipherable], It is conceived to be proper, you should appoint some other person forthwith, to act [undecipherable] master to the Detachment of Volunteers, and all Cities under your command, and that the Quarter Master General, should be directed to appoint another person, to act [undecipherable] Quarter Master, instead of Capt[undecipherable] — it being necessary, that [undecipherable] over should be taken respecting his Conduct immediately.
