Winchester for supplying
Rations to the Recruits of the
2d Reg. of Ar. & E. at Boston
made 1st April 1799.
Articles of Agreement made on the first day of April One —
thousand seven hundred and ninety nine Between Jonathan Jackson
Supervisor for the district of Massachusetts on behalf of the United States of
the one part and Edmund Winchester of Boston in the said district
of the other part —
First. That he the said Edmund Winchester shall furnish
and deliver all the Rations that may be required for the use of
the Recruits now raising for the Second Regiment of Artillerists
and Engineers in Boston aforesaid for the present time and —
until otherwise ordered by the said Jackson at the rate of fifteen
Cents for each Ration so furnished and delivered.
Second. That the said Jonathan Jackson shall make or
cause to be made to the said Edmund Winchester such
advances of money on account of this agreement as shall
be deemed reasonable until his account can be finally
adjusted at the Treasury —
