Dear Sir
Mrs Stevens was favor'd this morng with a letter from her Sister Hodge, by which it appears, she is in a very unpleasant situation, and wishes me to purchase her House in the country for the Boys, and mortgage the same to me for Security of the mony, which I must advance, as it is necessary I should have some Person to see this business executed & pay the money; I have to request the favor of you to advance them on my account the Sum of Seven hundred Dollars, and inclosed you have a draft from Antigua, drawn by Mr Furnow Redhead &c for the Sum of $275.75/100 on Mrs Miller [strikethrough: &c] Murray & I shall draw on you in a few days agreeable to order of the Dty. Master Genl. for mony advanced for his acct., and the Balance (if there should be any due you) I will remit as you may advise —
