The buildings at Harpers Ferry are now so far advanced as to make it proper to remove the public Stores under your care to that place. — I have written to M^r John Mackey by request of the Secretary of war to apprize him of the order and directed him how to effect the removal. He has an order which he will present when the arrangement for the removal is complete; when it is effected, you will be pleased to take his receipt for all the articles delivered him to enable you to close your Store account in my Books; and to the same person I enclose your Cash accounts will be rendered that a final adjustment may take place.
