By the enclosed Certificate of the Register, you will find that the accompt of Francis Mentges, as Agent for erecting fortifications on Mud Island, in the River Delaware, has been closed on the books of the Treasury, for a balance of four thousand, four hundred and ninety four Dollars and eleven cents found due to him on a settlement made of his accompts in that capacity, to the 4 day of February 1799.
For said balance of four thousand, four hundred and ninety four dollars and eleven cents therefore, you will be pleased to credit the said Francis Mentges on the books of your Office, making such entries for that purpose as may be requisite. —
