Clinton County } Be it remembered that on the Eleventh State of New York } day of March in the year of our Lord One Thousand Seven hundred and Ninety three Personally appeared before me Charles Platt Esquire Justice of the Court of Common Pleas in and for the County aforesaid Joseph Cormier of the Parish of St. [undecipherable] in the Province of Lower Canada and John Baptiste La Porte of the same place who on [their] oaths do declare and say that they were well acquainted with [undecipherable: probable reading Joseph Leuths] of the Parish aforesaid who in the year of our Lord one Thousand seven hundred and [undecipherable] left the Province of Canada when the American Army retreated from thence in consequence of his Attachment to them and that he left in Canada a good farm and dwelling house and Store thereon worth about Eight Thousand Livres worth of goods in the Store which also were destroyed by the British troops, and that while the American Army were in the Province of Canada the said [undecipherable] did furnish considerable Supplies of pro- vision to them which Supplies were purchased by the said [undecipherable] on credit and that after [he] left the Province of Canada his farm and build- ings were sold for the payment of those debts which were contracted for the Supplies of provision and that from the best of our Knowledge and belief the said [undecipherable] was in consequence of his Attachment to the American cause sustained damage to the value of fifteen Thousand Livres Joseph Cormier Jean Baptiste La Pointe State New York } Clinton County } Be it remembered that on the Eleventh Day of March 1793 personally appeared before me Charles Platt [undecipherable] of the Court of Common Pleas for said County the within named Joseph Cormier and John Baptiste La Porte who being duly sworn have declared that the within Affidavit by them taken & subscribed is the truth — and at the same time Appeared before me Noel Belongee an Inhabitant of this County who is well known to me who declared on Oath that he is well Acquainted with both of these Witnesses by reason of which I am Satisfied they are the Same persons represented Cha^s Platt J^ce [undecipherable] affidavit [undecipherable] Cormier
