[?] [undecipherable] By accompanying [undecipherable] [undecipherable] [undecipherable] 6[th] 11, 99] New Brunswick March [undecipherable] 1799 Sir, Yesterday received your letter of the 11th ult. containing a Statement of my account to the 6th [undecipherable] inst; the balance stated to be due me on which, I am induced to think is too much. The error I believe proceeds from you having omitted to charge me with the following sums to wit; Eighteen dollars refunded by [undecipherable: Dubra] a discharged Soldier, [undecipherable] August 1790 ——————————————————} 10. . And twelve dollars [undecipherable] [undecipherable], received by me from [undecipherable] [undecipherable], to be paid to the widow of [undecipherable] Hill, a discharged Soldier, Nov. 1790 —————————————————} 12. 64 —————————————— dollars 30. 64 The case of Dubra is as follows — he was enlisted [undecipherable] 1[undecipherable] Feb[ruary] 1799 — the 28th June following I received an order from the Secretary of war to discharge him upon his repaying the bounty & pay he had received from me. On the [undecipherable] August he paid me eighteen dollars; ten of which were for his bounty, eight for the pay he had received for the months of February and March, and I delivered him his discharge. I wrote to the Secretary stating these circumstances, but whether I informed you of them I do not now recollect — The sum due to the widow of [undecipherable] Hill had not yet been paid as she has not since called on me. * Permit me also to observe that I conceive the fifty cents charged to Edwards in my account settled in June last, ought not to be deducted, as at that time I believe the person, M^r.
