[8327] War Department 4 March 1799 Dear Sir. I have received your favour of Febry the 10th ulto, and a saddle from M^r Smith of a stronger construction than those made under the contract. I am very well pleased both with the shape, and workmanship of this saddle, and should more be wanted, will adopt it for the standard pattern. I shall say nothing about the price, it being time enough to take on this point when it is known that it will be [strikethrough: proper] to increase our supply of saddles.
