Sir,
I C. herewith you will receive the Account of the Salt Peter, and Powder due the Public by Messrs Wheelen & Michel. Such evidence as may be necessary to establish the claim will be obtained from the Purveyor who was the principal Agent in the business, and who of course is perfectly acquainted with every circumstances relative to it.

Philadelphia 1 March 1799.
I have received your letter of the 14th ulto. your draft for three hundred and twenty five Dollars is paid— and I have also, agreeably to your request, paid the balance of three hundred and Sixty Dollars due on the transportation business to Mr Trigg— I have at length received of the Accountant the money due on your Estimates up to the 31st October, which will leave a small Balance in your favour, which shall be stated to you in my next.— I think you conducted the business relative to the money stopped for last time with your usual caution.— I shall be glad to receive your statement of the transportation as early as possible.— Time will not permit me to enlarge further at present.—
