War Department 16^th July 1799 Sir Mr John McKee has received twenty dollars on account of the expenses of transporting the Wolfs friend and one other Indian to Pittsburg. On their arrival they will deliver to you the public horses, we will, I expect, find a conveyance to the Brig, in one of the Contractors boats. In this case you will furnish them with the provision necessary to carry them thither. Mr McKee will write him an account of the expenses incurred on the route to Pittsburg which you will settle. If it exceed the money advanced, you will pay him the balance, if under, he is to pay the excess to you. This account as the vouchers and receipts you will transmit to the accountant of the Department of War, that the proper entries may be made by that officer.
