Dear Sir,
Your letter of the 18th Inst. is this moment received Our River has been open some days which enabled me to send forward the greater part of the Stores destined for the Mississippi in charge of Ensign Cook on the 20.th ins on board of two large Orleans Boats. and one other Boat now loading takes all the Stores on hand destined for that Quarter except a few Articles marked Mississippi of which the Original Invoice is either mislaid or inadvertently carries away by the Waggoner who will perhaps return it to your Office The Articles were received it appears some time in December last. a part of which consists of two Iron bound ½ Barrels Train Oil - one Barrel Rosin &c These marks will I presume lead Mr Harris to the duplicate of the original Invoice of which please to direct him to send me a Copy by return of Post
At the particular desire of Ensign Cook his letter enclosing a Ten dollar note for his wife at Middle town is sent under cover to you. with his request that you take the Trouble of having it sent forward under a Franked cover
