Dear Sir
I have received your letter of the 11th instant. I shall be happy to be informed of Col. Sargent’s claim settled to his satisfaction. I have always found him a sincere Friend. I have this morning received a letter from Judge McGuire, informing me that his Boat (on board of which Col. Serjeant’s Stores were shipped) was about thirty five miles below Wheeling - stove by the ice - but says that all the Cargo is safe - And as I have two Boats loaded that will set off for Natchez tomorrow - I shall direct them to stop and take Colo. Sargent’s stores on board - And shall send on another Boat to take the remainder of the cargo in a few days - I Yesterday found it necessary to draw on you at eight days sight in favor of Doc. Geo. Stevenson for three hundred dollars - and this day in favour of James Hogg at ten days for five hundred Dollars these two Drafts amounting to 800 Dollars be pleased
to pay and charge as usual.
I am Dear Sir, Your obed. Servant
