I am Y^r H^ble Simms Acc^t --- Cap^t Edward Miller Accountants Off^ce Middletown Connecticut Sir I received a letter from you of the 16 Inst^t, enclosing Pay Roll for January of yourself & I also recd sundry Recruiting Vouchers. the former have undergone the necessary and there has been Ten Dollars deducted therefrom, being difference James Crawford & Isaac Cook made up as Artificers, whereas there are no men of that description to the Regiments of Infantry. this deduction leaves an amount of two hundred fifty five Dollars & sixty six ⁹⁰/₁₀₀ you will receive in the usual manner, from John Chester to Esq^r or at Wethersfield on your giving him the necessary receipts he being agreeable for the due application of the same — The three receipt Rolls contained in your said letter for said have undergone examination and, the amount recd with be placed to your credit being six hundred thirty one Dollars Cents — It has been found necessary in the settlement of your Recruiting account for the following reas [Cancelled]
