[undecipherable] After the above date (18^th October) Doctor [undecipherable] took charge of the Sick on Bedlows Island, and when I have occasionally visited I have observed the same Nurse in attendance [signature: undecipherable] Capt^t. John Henry I do certify that the above named Mary Fountain was employed in attendance on the sick soldiers belonging to the detachment of the 2^d Regiment of Artillerists and Engineers under my command in the garrison of Bedlows Island from the tenth day of September till the 24^th day of December 1798 at which last period the sick were removed to the hospital at Governors Island when her services were no longer necessary.
