I shall pay immediate attention to the Cloathing Return, but the State of our Store is such at present as to prevent my forwarding many articles essential at this season of the year — Marines Recep^ts shall be noticed when settlement is made — I have heard nothing of M^r Ormor, suppose he will be in shortly, when I shall settle with him agreeably to the information you give — The Quarter Master General is not arrived as far as I know, he may be in the city, but I have no knowledge of it — The system for the conduct of the business in the Quarter Masters Department, should the Army in contemplation be raised, is I am informed different from any former arrangement — nothing has transpired officially; but it has been hinted to me that Col^l Carrington will probably be at the head of it — this information you will keep to yourself — all the appointments will be promulgated in a few days — you do not inform me whether the navigation of the Ohio was in any degree restored, so as to admit your forwarding the articles you have for the several lower posts; and particularly those for Governor Sergeant, I know he wants them very much — I am, Sir, your most Obedient Servant, Samuel Hodgdon.
