Sir, I have received your letter of the 7 Inst. — The return of Stores you mention I have received, but as yet I have had no time to examine it accurately with Major Craig's Books, having been engaged in getting away all our Cavalry Equipments which sailed Yesterday. I had not slept & out for the last two days of the time, but my labours were crowned with success; for all went off well — I followed them down the River five miles & then left them all well — but the Horses are a dangerous Head & need continued care. I have received your enclosed return of Stores sent to Carlisle, and shall be glad to receive the whole for those sent to other Places; it detects many Errors, & many Impositions. The Standards, the Horse Bells & the remainder of the Arms I shall be happy to receive all other necessaries for the Campaign I will return for before I descend the Ohio — The Lances & drivers, (sixty in Number) shall be added to Capt Doyle's Receipt; we daily expect him. I received your communication relative to my Bank Account & replied to it in my last — nothing can be a more timely supply than the Livris Cloathing you speak of — the Chains for Artillery Horses I find are Essential, I am glad they are coming on. I blieve, and indeed I know you have been very busy, & very industrious, it will turn to your own Account eventually, as much as it serves the Public at present. Let every thing be done in the compass of your power; for a great deal must be done, I find, by somebody — I have enclosed a letter for John's Wife, — my Wife will hand it to you, please to see it delivered — In haste — I remain; Sir, Your obliged Servant & friend.
