Fort McHenry 2d Decr 1798
Sir
Your letter of the 14th came to hand a few days since, and the amount of the Rolls therein mentioned being five hundred and forty one Dollars and thirty one Cents I have received. —
with this I transmit the receipt Rolls for the payment made to my command for the month of September, amounting to five hundred and thirty three dollars and twelve cents, and also the muster and pay Rolls for the month of November 1798, the latter of which if I am correct amounts to five hundred and fifty dollars and forty eight Cents.
By the enclosed Certificate it appears there are three months pay due to Joseph Kelly alias Patrick Cannon late of Capt Blackburns Company inlisted by me on the 1st Inst.—
If this claim be just I would thank you to forward the amount, accompanied with your directions which of the names is to be subscribed to his receipt—
Having before inlisted the fellow (viz in the year 1794.) I know the latter to be his real name, and I therefore re-inlisted him under that. —
I shall require a supply of blank Rolls and am respectfully
Sir
