Pittsburg 30^th November 1798 Sir The Packet that accompanies this was delivered to me the day before yesterday by a Wyandot Indian together with a letter from Isaac Williams Jun^r of Sanduskey directing me to pay this Indian twenty Dollars as a Compensation for his Services in carrying and delivering the Packet— I mentioned that charge to the Lieut Mr Gene who is unwilling to admit such charges in his Department; And as similar Claims frequently occur I have to request Instructions respecting them— I am just informed of a Detachment being on their March for this Post under the Command of Capt Miller It is of Importance to have early Information of the final Destination of these Troops in order that Quarters may be provided, or Boats purchased for their Transportation The Water of the Allegheny has continued too low to admit of launching the Galley, She is therefore still on the Stocks I am Sir Your Obed^t Serv^t Isaac Craig D Q M G^r Hon^ble James McHenry Sec^y of War
