Philadelphia 22^d November 1793 Sir, I have expected for some time past a letter from you authorising me to recieve any balance due you at the War Office, agreeably to my letter of the 9^th August last — As the Accounts now stand you are indebted to me in the Sum of 393: 35 Dollars, and the Accountant finds a balance due you from the Public of 86: 2 Dollars, this Sum you was to have drawn for in my favor to place to your credit but it has not been done. We are all closing our Accounts, and as few outstanding advances as possible must then appear. I have therefore to request, that you will send forward any other Vouchers you possess for money paid on Account of the United States in the Military or Quarter Master Departments to me, and I will have them adjusted, and credit you with the Amount. If you have no such Vouchers, empower me to recieve the Pay due you that it may be carried to your credit with me. Be good enough to write me on the Subject immediately. As yet I have heard nothing of the rascal Jacob Death, I shall keep a Sharp eye over him. The Great Men here are and have for some time bin very busy the President comes in to day the Troops are Assembling to recieve him.
