I lay before you a claim of William Anderson for military services performed in Capt Van Rensselaer's troop the 1st May to 31st October 1796 which he says he never drew pay for, and that Charles Hyde Lieut & Paymaster of the first regiment never discharged the same, as you doubtless can ascertain the justness of his claim please to give me the necessary directions respecting it.
Tony Herbert left this place for Philadelphia the 26 inst. he is charged with a small Box directed to you, containing my Vouchers for the Indian and Quarter Master Departments to the 1 July 1798, Abstracts of which have been forwarded by Post. I am Respectfully

As I have referred Mr Hall the Secretary to the Commissioners for the treaty held at [undecipherable: probable reading Tellico], to you for Settlement; because some of his Vouchers was left at Philadelphia, and having no account of the Monies advanced him there, He also made some exchange of Horses, all which made a reference proper that justice might be done to the public; I have enclosed his Receipts for two Horses purchased for him by direction of the Commissioners, for which he is accountable.
