Dear Sir,) I have received your Letter of the 5^th & 8^th Instant the former by M^r Walsrous Brother of the unhappy Doctor deceased, whose effects I have taken particular care of and will deliver them as you have directed.— Yours of the 8^th I found enclosed M^rs Owner's Receipt for 30 Dollars which I shall charge to M^r Owners. I have been greatly deceived by Jacob Death after writing three days he disappeared, and has since been seen on the road to Philadelphia in company with a Woman of not very good Fame — I must beg of you to enquire for him and endeavour to secure the forty Dollars advanced to him. — I feel great pleasure in your information of all the great men assembling in your City as it affords a strong proof that you and Family are once more in Safety — When you have a leisure moment in company with Col.^o Pickering and General Hamilton & Secretary of War I have to request you to mention to them the capacity in which I have long acted, the heavy Duty that I have performed and the very small Compensation. M^r Waltrous wishes to sell a quantity of Medicine the Effects of the Deceased Doctor — I have advised him to request you to offer it to the Secretary of War for the use of the Troops at the upper Posts as it is much wanted.
