Sir,
I had the honour to receive your Excellency's letter of the 13th inst. last night. Some of the documents which were referred to in my letter of the 10th [strikethrough: cannot] I find, be completed by my clerks in any reasonable time, and [strikethrough: there are no] I shall therefore be obliged to submit the original books and records [strikethrough: of the War Office then] in their place, and request the same may be carefully returned.
