Sir,
Agreeable to your Letter of the 31st Ultimo. I have received of John Nevit Esqr Inspector of the Revenue, two thousand nine hundred & six Dollars & ninety six Cents, for Pay, Subsistence & Forage of the Troops at the upper Posts &c for which Sum I have this day drawn on you in two forms at due days sight, which be pleased to accept & direct Payment — The annexed Schedule shews the appropriations of that Sum together with 204 Dollars 62½ Cents being a part of a Balance remaining in my hands of monies formerly received, and of which Sixty one Dollars 44 dolts still remains unappropriated — I have this day transmitted to the Accountant of the War Department an Estimate of Pay Subsistence and Forage of the Troops at the upper Posts for October November & December 1798, and also in recruiting Service during that Period — Total amount two thousand four hundred & sixty eight Dollars & 20 Cents and when if payment may be obtained of you Mast I an early application is made to him I am Sir your very Obt
